Breast Screen
Every three years a white van pulls into the local Tesco carpark and stays for 6 months plus. The women over a certain age await an appointment letter, others venture in to ask if they should be receiving an appointment. Every woman registered with a GP is screened between the age of 50 and 70 every three years, I went for my 2nd screening on the 7th October 2019, seven weeks before starting this blog. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/breast-cancer-screening/ At my first mammogram three years ago the radiographer said, 'I assume your friends have told you how painful this is'. 'No', was my response and it did hurt, my breasts are not designed to be compressed between two plates whilst I stand in strange positions! The screening three years ago came back fine.
